Balloons are an intresting topic, they sometimes just go and float away from your grasp. Sometimes when you most need them for a birthday party, a reception, or a get well soon present, they just go and pop because they don't feel needed. Love your balloons. Balloons are just like your love for books, it sometimes just goes and floats away because you don't nurture it, feed it, and give it what it deserves. I have suffered from this syndrome, I call it the B.A.C.O.N. syndrome. Books Always Cater Over Noise. What this means is, you can always read a book if its noisy, rainy, or quiet. I have recently recovered and read 14 books in the past two weeks, thats one a day. I forgot how much fun it was to go and read books instead of just laying on the couch, or watching movies. Help others recover from this syndrome, give them book suggestions, tell them about the series you are reading, or threaten to spoil the ending of the movie they are watching. Help people recover from B.A.C.O.N. syndrome.

The House of Hades
The House of Hades is a book that recently came out in the Heros of Olympus series by Rick Riordan. Something has come up where Annabeth and percy are stuck in tarturus, and the only way out is to close the Doors of death and escape through them. I predict that something is going to happen to them because they just had two miraceles in a row. They were saved by the Fire water, which is burning liquid that they had to ingest to heal them selves, "It tastes spicy". They are now stuck aginst an amry of dead again monsters, they have to sneak past them and then make the treacherous journey to the Doors of death. I think that one of them is goin to be injured, not enough to kill them but to make the journey even harder.

Atlantis Complex
In the Artemis Fowl series, The Atlantic Complex, Artemis is faced with a challenge. His own mind. As he begins to show his friends from the people, ( What the fairies, elves, and dwarves call themself ), a new way to save planet earth from global warming, they begin to notice that he is acting strange, "Artemis Fowl muttering? And no mention of her new hairstyle -- usually Artemis picks up on physical changes right away." This is a quote on where one of his friends, Holly, has begun to notice something is wrong with him.
Holly soon thinks she knows what is going on, and Foaly, another one who came to the meeting, has come to the same conclusion. Atlantis Complex.
"Atlantis Complex (at-lan-tis kom-pleks) is a psychosis common among guilt riddden criminals, first diagnosedd by Dr. E. Dypess of the Atlantis Brainology Clinic. Other symptoms include obsessive behavior, paranioa, delusions, and in extreme cases mulitple personality disorder"
Artemis is showing multiple of these syndromes at this time. He is a criminal, may or may not be guilt ridden. He is showing obsessive behavior in the number five. He does everything in 5, five steps, talking in sentences that are divisible by five, only wanting 5 people in a room. He also has paranoia, he sent his best friend away because he didnt think that he could trust him. And shortly after they make this conclusion, he develops another personality, a quite funny one in my opinion, he becomes a romantic romeo from the 1800's (funny enough).
Artemis's condition doesn't get any better, and neither does the worlds. A mastermind criminal escapes prision, and Artemis is the only one who can stop him. And he has to do so, while his condition only worsens.

Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is a play I have been looking forward to for a little while now. I recently watched a movie called Warm Bodies which is a spin off of Zombies and Romeo and Juliet.I know they are nothing alike but gave me and my dad a laugh. I can't wait to read the play. The first act has been kind of cool if you picture it in your head. It does take a little bit of time though to decifer the elizibethan language.
I have been looking forward to Romeo and Juliet because my parents said that they liked it when they read it and everyone always talks about it, even though they have never read it. I always thought that shakespeare was a cool guy. He did do excellent things, such as make all those play.
How Warm Bodies is a spin-off of Romeo and Juliet
This is a little article by a movie reviewer who thought the samne that I did
Gnomeo and Juliet is another kids spin-off of Romeo and juliet, or rather a modern day version. Watching that with my cousins was funny, even if it is a kids movie. There were things that you could relate to in the first scene of Romeo and Juliet because at the beginning of the movie it a few people in a neutrsal zone that start to fight, until higher powers come in to keep the fighting goin. Until the owner of the land, In this casae was the people who own the backyard, come outside to break up the fight.

Characters
Artemis Fowl in the book Opal Deception begins as he once was in the very beginning of the series. He reverted to his naturak wasy after the mind wipe in the previous book. What the mind wipe did was go through all his memoreis and delete everything involving the people. Artemis was smart though, you can regain all of you memories by something trigering a relapse. Artemis outsmarted them yet agin. He left something for him to find and he did and got his memories back. That is what happened over the entire course of the book.
In the novel, Artemis started again as a criminal mastermind. He changes over the text because of how his memories return. His memories return him to the kind person he was before the mind wipe. Artemis remembers all of his friends and the way things should be.
Artemis interacts with other characters in a variety of ways. Before regaining his memories he treated everyone like dirt except for Butler, his bodyguard, and good friend. After his mind accepted the memories, he treated everyone with a newfound respect.
Artemis advances the plot by think of plans and ideas that can help save the people once again, without him, there would be no more people, or anyone of that group.

Youth Group
Recently I have been going to an youth group held once a week on thursdays. It has been really cool and neat to me. Its around 9-10 people that go every wee and I have become one of them. They were great. They took me in when I had nothing in common with them. Erevryone arrives, we have snacks, and then we do the lesson. Last week it was about looking past someones apperance. They do really cool ways to show this. They showed a video of an old man dancing around a room and talking about their old stories. I have begun to love going there. It has become apart of my schedule. i am thankful for them. They brought more joy in my life.
WARNING:::///SPOILERS\\\:::WARNING
The current book I just finished, Artemis Fowl: The Artic Incident really left some questions for me. Such as what is he going to do now that both of his parents are back? Is he going to attend his school now? How are his parents going to react when they figure out what he's been doing for the past two years?
I found those answers in the next book, the name escapes me.
Artemis Fowl contiues on his schemes except in a more secretive fashion. He doesnt lay out everything in his room as he did before. He hides it. He doesnt let his parents see it. Even though all of the trouble he could get in. he countinues on scheming. Going bigger and bigger every time.
He does attend school in some fashion, at least thats where his parents think he is meanwhile hes taking ~air quote~ School Trips ~air quote~ to Paris and Austrailia pulling off big heists. stealing famous paintings, and other things that he thinks might be leading him towards something more important that I will not tell you.
His parents havent yet figured out that he has been pulling off all of these little schemes. He is very good at covering his tracks. He does not want to think of it when it does happen.

Checkpoint #3: Reading Skills
No matter how much greed you have, as long as theres a little bit of hope inside of you, you can recover.
Artemis Fowl is a book I liked so much I read it again, I really like the magical univerese. When I was reading this book I was thinking about the life lesson it taught me, or the theme. So what I came up with for Artemis Fowl was: No matter how much greed you have, as long as theres a little bit of hope inside of you, you can recover. No, its not the best life lesson in the world. But I thought it fit very well with the book. This book was really good for me because I guessed and I was utterly wrong in every single way and that was cool for me to see me proven wrong and to have a good plot.
In the very beginning of the book Artemis was overrun by the thought of "We need more money" just like in the short story the "Rocking Horse". It was neat to compare the two books in my head as I was reading along the novel. Artemis really badly wanted back the money that his father had lost, and to compensate the loss of his father. He believed that his father was still out there.
In the middle of the novel Artemis was still overcome by greed and had started his plan to get the gold from the faires. It reminded me of when I was a kid, I would go outside and play with friends, Tag. You may be thinking how in the world does Tag relate to a plan to steal gold from faires? Well the anwser to that question is... It doesn't. It relates to whats happening while hes trying to steal the gold. He is really just playing a giant game of tag with the faires making them think that they are a step ahead of him, when really Artemis is a step in front of them.
////::::WARNING SPOILER ALERT::::\\\\
Lastly at the end of the novel, Artemis has stole all of the gold, but made a bargain with an officer on the opposing side for a "wish". He used this wish to actually to not help himself but to help his mother, he helped her depression caused by her lost husband. How this relates to the world is sometimes countries go and help other countries, such as the Haiti earthquake the USA helped out tremendously in the effort to rebuild the country.

Checkpoint #2: Book reccomendation
I have just finished reading this new book, or rather collection of books called Sciencia which I got for a gift. What it is, is a collection of Mathmatics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Astronomy. From reading this book along with my dad, I think that people who want to learn more about Math and science would love this book. It even includes some of the things that we are learning about in Math class. It has formulas from Pythagoras, Isacc Newton, Galileo Galilei, and a whole ton more. There are things you wouldnt expect in a math book such as animals of life and other things in nature. It really intrigued me how much I am actually enjoyed this book, I guess its because math and science are my favorite subjects.

A Confusion of Princes: Continued from last blog
Prince Khemri's
character change impacted the theme of the story in such a way that it changes
where he went, who he met, and how he saw the universe. Because of how his
character developed throughout the story, he was able to meet a girl named Raine,
which changed his fate drastically.
Raine changed his life
tremendously because of how Prince Khemri began to fall in love with her, and
how there was a pirate fleet attacking her planet. As Prince Khemri began to
look into the Pirates attacking her home, they were not in fact pirates, but
the Imperial Fleet! Because of the situation, Prince Khemri ended up killing
himself defending the planet, along with saving Raine. "My eyes were
already shut. They had been the whole time. But I felt a darkness come as if I
had squeezed my eyelids tight, a spreading darkness that brought with it a biting
cold. I guessed I'd failed the test to become an adjuster. But I’d passed the
test for being human."(NIX 277). This quote enforces the fact that his
personality changes so much that he almost changes from thinking like a Prince
to thinking like a human.
Having the perks of
being a Prince meant he was soon reborn again with all his memories (a little
farfetched I know). He was soon called
to a banquet where 999 other Princes would be joining him at the capital of the
empire. As it turns out the Prince who lead the imperial fleet to battle
against Raines planet was there and was receiving a medal for her honor!
":Citation. On
212-4456 Prince Atalin 1 <<Identifier>> in
command of ISN Khouresk on
routine patrol was attacked
by an illegal squatter
fleet of twenty vessels in system
Odkhaz, and destroyed
the squatters without loss:"(NIX 286).
Prince Khemri, soon
after he received this message, was appalled by how Prince Atalin was awarded for
killing helpless people. So he goes and tries to make it right. Because of the
people he met, he started to become more of a human than a prince.

Characterization in A Confusion of Princes
In A Confusion of Princes Garth Nix begins to develop the character Prince Khemri at the very first chapter of the book. Prince Khemri has a very selfish attitude at the beginning of the novel, and ignores most of the people around him.
An example of this is, "Also, it would mean putting myself into a hierarchy of Princes where I would be the lowest of the low. It would be much more fun to simply go somewhere interesting and be a prince at large, preferably the only one around. Then I could do whatever I wanted." (NIX 16). This shows very well how Prince Khemri was a very arrogant person at the beginning of the story. He does not want to put himself into a position where he would not be at the top.
Prince Khemri is a dynamic character an example towards the end of the book shows his interactions with people, "But it Would also be the first step away from Raine. Did I really want to leave Raine and return to the empire?"(NIX 250). This shows that Prince Khemri cares for someone and he isn't the selfish person he was at the beginning of the novel. He is questioning himself about staying with Raine or doing his duty and returning to the empire of which he owes his life.
Prince Khemri is a dynamic character because Prince Khemri has changed from who he was into a different person. He also has changed his personality along with his thinking process. This is how I realized that theme was in fact don't let arrogance blind you.

Quent Hartt Summer Reading Book Analysis
Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyzes in detail its development over the course of the text, including how it emerges and is shaped and refined by specific details; the student will provide an objective summary of a chapter or part of the text.
I believe after reading the book A Confusion Of Princes by Garth Nix, that the theme/central idea is don't let arrogance and power blind your vision of other people. The first instance where I could clearly define an example of this is, "How dare they leave us here!" I sputtered, wasting some of that precious oxygen. "I will protest!" "Not recommended, Highness," said Haddad briefly. He was already pulling at my elbow, urging me forward. "But I am a Prince of the Empire!"(Nix 31). In this example it shows you how Prince Khemri was in denial that some people obtained a status equal to him as a Prince of the empire, and he was not the most important person in this world. I think that it also shows how arrogant he was at the beginning of the novel because he didn't even acknowledge that his closet person he had to a friend, Haddad, was trying to get him to stop because even he knew it wasn't a good idea.
This instance Prince Khemri started to notice his arrogance and how it would effect his predicament if it continued. "I supposed it was possible, and it slowly dawned on me that Raine expected me to take her along. She hadn't even caught on that a minute or so before, I had planned to leave her behind. Once again I was reminded that I was thinking like a Prince and thinking of her as a programmed servant or something equally disposable."(Nix 194). At the beginning of the quote you can tell that Prince Khemri planned to leave Raine behind and escape on his own, but he started to second guess himself and realize that he shouldn't because he remembered that Raine just saved his life and he needed to repay her. Another aspect of Prince Khemri's personality that I believe starts to change here is that he begins to care for this girl even though she is not equal to his status as a Prince. She is merely a peasant in an ordinary Prince's mind.
Prince Khemri ignores his arrogance and does something a Prince would never do. "But now I didn't want to risk making a wrong move because... Because Raine had somehow become important. I didn't want her to become an enemy, or to hate me, even though I knew this was a tactical error. I shouldn't be caring about any human. I should be focusing on the mission."(Nix 239). Prince Khemri begins to ignore the mission he was sent there for, and began to fall in love with her which a Prince could never do. He was becoming less arrogant and more thoughtful. Another quote to further solidify this statement is, "I should have used Raine as a shield. Not the other way around. This was the second time I'd thought to save her no matter what the cost to myself. I had to be losing my mind, but somehow it was voluntary."(Nix 241). This final quote reinforces that Prince Khemri was beginning to put other people before himself even if they we not as important.
A central theme of this novel was don't let your arrogance blind your vision of others. Prince Khemri at the end of the novel changed from an arrogant Prince to someone that was able to care for someone else. He never put himself first, he always put someone else's needs in front of his. An example of this is he gave the ultimate sacrifice for the planet of Kharalcha Four by stopping an invading fleet of pirates, but also destroying himself in the process. At the beginning he was someone that would continually use other's for his own needs, near the end of the book he would put his life in danger for the sake of other's survival.

This article is Ryan Britt's review on A Confusion of Princes. He talks about how it is a good book for young adult science fiction lovers. He also talks about how it keeps readers constantly paying attention because there really are no dull parts.
